http://instatbt.com/Place/portland-oregon/107711604Portland, OregonSwipe ⏪. From LA ➡️🗻Mt. Shasta ➡️✌🏽Eugene ➡️ 🌹Portland ➡️👟Beaverton ➡️ and 🔙, that is another road trip for the books. Though we didn't get to experience Oregon's outdoors like we wanted to last week due to the fire in the gorge, we improvised and dabbled in everything else that it had to offer. Thing like Nike, Breweries, Coffee & food. As most of you know, all of the mentioned we enjoy very much. It really felt like the perfect getaway that had all of interests. On top of all of that, the people that we met in Oregon had 2 things in common: they were all very kind people and genuine. ✌🏽to everyone that showed jerilene and I love. We appreciate you. Until the next one. tbt
The Black Excellence ListThe Black Excellence List2017-09-21Last year i had an idea to start a list of moments that made Black people feel excellent. I didn't mean excellent like good enough or strong enough or seen enough. I meant like Bill & Ted's "eeeeeexcellent!" about seeing some nigga shit. I meant Mr Burns "Eeeexcellent" at seeing a black moment that made you feel just good about who you are; in no context other than "I am Black and I love it so damn much". Because these days it seems like everything is supposed to make us feel the opposite of that or worse, exploit the moments when we do. I wanted us to have an archive we could read in the dark days ahead. A library of sorts of things that remind us why life and our individual identities are so important.
I asked a few friends last year to send me moments that gave them that feeling. i'll be posting them but this thread is one of MANY personal faves. illmani and Shereen are my yungauntie Desus and mero. They cover pop culture to politics with a language that can only be described as pure diaspora shenanigans. They cover nothing but BlackExcellence and their threads remain chock full of Nigga Insider Knowledge and moments that genuinely make being in this skin feel so real and royal. Even still like the Black women they are their reference and compassion isnintersectional flowing flawlessly thru race, gender, sexuality, religion, and considering all the hierarchies within. They remind me that our survival is dependent on others catching up to skills we already have. It's a reminder the we hold so much history just in the way our culture is set up from language to ritual. And yes I agree Bruno Mars is an unexpected negro treasure. nopunintendedtheblackexcellencelisttbt2016blackgirlmagicdiasporanigganonsensehttps://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/p640x640/21910674_1885554111761176_2890318295045505024_n.jpg2017-09-21
