sugar addictsugar addict2017-10-22DAY 43: The problem with pride.
If it weren't for my pride, I would probably have around 15 years of sobriety at this point. I went to my first 12 step meeting pretty soon after I lost it with food. OA (overeaters anonymous) works for everyone who "works" it. Unfortunately I was never able to get past Step 1. I was good at admitting I was powerless over food but I was unable (unwilling) to surrender myself to a Higher Power. I kept telling myself that I will eventually be able to control my cravings, that eventually I would be able to have my cake and eat it too. "I can beat this on my own" and "I am stronger than my urges to eat compulsively" are the types of thoughts that kept me sick for 15+ years. Only recently have I truly believed I needed to let go of certain foods for life, that I am an addict and that I need to surrender myself to God in order to have true peace of mind and recovery. One day at a time I am an addict, one day at a time I will not give in to my addiction.
If you are new to my account, please join me on my recovery journey. I will be sharing daily posts for my first 100 days of abstinence from my addictive substance - sugar. Your support is greatly appreciated.

http://instatbt.com/Place/westlake-village-california/214575473Westlake Village, CaliforniaIt's not your responsibility to continue to live in guilt and shame and regret because of things that you may or may not have done correctly. 🤔😐
You don't have to be better than anyone else. And you were not placed on this earth to actually make anyone else's life better. We just need to do our best and be better than we used to be. 💯
Every day, doing the next right thing, to the best of our ability, with the tools that we have at the time. That's all we can really do. 🙏🏻😌
