This scene reminds me of a tiny infant in his mother’s womb, hence the title. This composition is a horizontal remake of an earlier digital image I created in 2013. After we returned from NY and I went to develop my film, I dug through the freezer and found several rolls of 120 that I hadn’t developed that had been sitting in my freezer for about a year. They contained all the images from a Colorado Rockies trip and a Valley of Fire trip. The Valley of Fire images in particular really stood out to me as having a ton of potential, so I decided to dig into scanning them. These images show why I love Velvia so much for stuff like this! It really plays well with the oranges and yellows present in these desert canyons, arches and caves. The image you see here is what the slide looks like in your hands! This is no Photoshop trickery, but rather a “straight scan.” All I did was sharpening and some minor detail cleanup to the scan. The image quality in the 6x7cm film is fantastic, too. These images were made with my Mamiya RB67 and 90mm Mamiya lens, which I have since sold to pay for more investments in large format gear.
This is a very sensitive location, which unfortunately has been discovered by the hordes of vandals, so there is a lot of graffiti and carving present there, which is a crying shame. We desperately need to protect these special places for future generations and advocate and educate for their protection - leave no trace - leave things cleaner than you found them - take care of the places you visit!

Wander TasmaniaWander Tasmania2017-10-21Presenting the best photos of Tasmania, thanks tasmania
The fiery tones of dawn wash across the Tessellated Pavement - a remarkable geological formation on the Tasman Peninsula - in this glorious shot from framegrabs. Although these rectangular saltwater pools look distinctly manmade, they are actually the result of a rare type of natural erosion that occurs in only a few spots around the world. It's a fascinating site to explore and is continually changing with the tides. The Pavement is one of a number of geological features that can be found along the Tasman, including towering sea stacks, sea caves and tunnels, blowholes, and some of the highest sea cliffs in the southern hemisphere. More than enough to keep you occupied for a day (or a week)! Thanks for tagging us, Ryan!

http://instatbt.com/Place/linville-gorge-wilderness/1018967929Linville Gorge WildernessThis week at the Linville Gorge: I cried. A lot. Humbling, eye-opening; an acute awareness that only dangling from a rope can bring. Release. Surrender. More to come... So many to thank but for now just balancingearthslacklines and breathefest for making this all possible.
