Carys AuroraCarys Aurora2017-10-22Two weeks today patchheasman will be running the 5th run of 8for8, the last half of 2017, in Lancaster.
As it falls close to World Prematurity day (17th November) we wanted to use this run as a way of raising even more awareness for the incredible work Bliss do. Their campaign this year involves the hashtag Prematurityis and as part of this, we will be sharing a few posts about what prematurity is for us.
So for our first post, Prematurityis a real life miracle. Carys was well and truly a miracle baby and we are so proud to be her parents. She was strong, brave and feisty, and she never let the fact she was 13 weeks early get in her way. She battled against so many obstacles this world threw her way, and surpassed so many expectations of a prem baby of her size. Even in this photo at 8 hours old, hooked up to every wire and tube imaginable, she fist pumped the air and showed us she was a fighter ❤ https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/22639393_132270007429512_7954113096698560512_n.jpg2017-10-22
Miracle MummaMiracle Mumma2017-10-22If you can be one thing, be kind. That shit is free. After a tough day, I always find comfort in the fact that you are all so uplifting and supportive of each other no matter your journey. The premmie community is so unique for that. Thanks for reminding me that there is still good in this world 🙌

Daarom komt Puk me helpen! Puk is zoals je ziet een heel stuk kleiner. Hij heeft het formaat van een prematuur van 26 weken. ♡ wat een verschil als je ze zo naast elkaar legt! En ja, deze baby's zijn écht zo klein. ♡ https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/22639347_153334001827027_6758691460473683968_n.jpg2017-10-21

http://instatbt.com/Place/royal-columbian-hospital/290321045Royal Columbian HospitalMy mom snuck this shot last year on her way out of the NICU after visiting Claire. We were on day 41/140 of our NICU stay. CPAP machines and feeding tubes were just a part of our day to day life. I got up every morning and drove 45-60 minutes to the hospital. I would pump when I got there and then I would settle into that chair or one like it and we would get all the tubes secured and then I would sit there holding Claire for 2-3 hours until I needed to pump again. Usually after pumping, I would run out for lunch and then come back and repeat the routine again. When I wasn’t driving, pumping, or sleeping, I was at Claire’s bedside. This was my routine for 112 days until Claire was transferred to BC Women’s for her eye surgery and then got sick. We were then able to stay at Ronald McDonald House and that cut out the commuting. Those days in the hospital felt endless until the very last day. Now they seem like a distant memory and I can’t believe we were in there for that long. nicuflashbackclairebeverley25weekerpreemiepowernicugradmicropreemieniculife
