Thought it would be fun to do a little sidebyside from my first ever IG "fitness" selfie to one of my latest. May 2016 - Oct 2017 (feels loads longer in my mind).
This isnt really a before and after as it's not like I had masses of weight I wanted to lose etc. In truth at the beginning I really only started out because a guy I was dating got me hooked (always the way) 🙈
Fast forward 18 months and there's not huge difference visually IMO but my strength, composition and mindset are worlds away. I'm holding more water than normal due to cortisol, heavy training, salt blah blah...but I am lifting heavier than ever and that wouldn't be possible if I weren't stronger i.e. more muscle. So despite only being around 14-16lb lighter (I rarely check tbh) I'm on the leaner side I guess.
Just because you dont always see some crazy aesthetic transformation doesn't necessarily equate to no change. It's all too easy to get swept up in ego and comparison whilst conveniently forgetting other, more important, health indicators.
I constantly remind myself that I 'bother' because I enjoy it and I enjoy it because it makes me feel good physically, emotionally and mentally. What doesn't feel good is beating yourself up if you don't feel "enough" for some arbitrary reason. Feelings are fleeting anyway and practicing mindful meditation has strengthened this perception. Perhaps the biggest changes happen on the inside as we grow because as I've got older, had new experiences, met different people/influencers, and bigger life things have happened I'm just driven by different things. 🔸
Can't please everyone and the eye of the beholder should be your own first, always 💕

________________________ lot of my clients have to eat at hotels, whether they are working away or just on a weekend away, so this is a question I get a lot. It is possible to stay on track when eating at a hotel..
______________________ ______________________________ 🔹Be sensible with portion size. Just because it’s unlimited, doesn’t mean you need to go over the top. I know I’m out for the day and won’t be eating too much so I can afford to have a bigger serving. 🔹Pick good protein sources with some fat too. Protein and fat is an absolute must for my first meal of the day - for reasons I will go into on a separate post. 🔹Have a coffee. Caffeine is a stimulant which raises adrenaline. This causes blood to rush away from the digestive tract and ready you for battle (srs), which means that you will have less of an appetite.. less chance of going over the top on the buffet!
______________________ ______________________________ for the carbs options - toast, hash browns, cereals, croissants, fruit juice.. Ingesting carbs first thing in the morning causes a raise in insulin. This prevents cortisol from doing what it is supposed to do, which is break down cells. Lots of people fear cortisol because it breaks down muscle.. if you let it. The fact we are eating protein and fat protects our muscle, and the cortisol will be able to get to work on breaking down your fat cells.. so let it do it’s job and don’t interrupt it by giving into your carby cravings!
