As most of you may know, I had joined Spencer on his journey from border to border, from north to south. I was with him for an unforgettable thirty four days, before having to leave the trip early due to some medical issues. Well, what most of you may not have known is that my friend Spencer continued on walking until the very end. He has done it, he made it to the California-Mexico border. I am so immensely proud of his determination and sheer will to achieve and succeed. Now come back home so we can go adventuring together once more brother.
http://instatbt.com/Place/fair-oaks-california/236006181Fair Oaks, CaliforniaYesterday I walked out into the backyard to enjoy some quality time with my Momma. She looked so peaceful as she sat there, soaking in the rays whilst listening to the melody of the local blue birds. This backyard is the thing that I love most about this house, from all the flowers and fruit trees to the green grass and creek bed, it sure is a great spot to relax.
Then I noticed a recent change to the surrounding scenery. The roses were almost all gone. There was only this one independent, radiant flower left. So, I asked my Momma, what happened to all those stunning, colorful roses that had, at one time, engulfed the yard? Her answer: you know honey, as roses grow older, there comes a time where you have to cut off the flower in order to give the plant a way to bloom again.
For the first time in my life, I realized then that we are all just a bunch of flowers. We live our lives, constantly changing and expanding as the days pass. Sometimes petals will fall, much like relationships fading or chapters closing, then creating more opportunities for new petals to blossom and thrive. Furthermore, sometimes we just need a completely fresh start, a new beginning, so that we can find a way to bloom again.
So, it begs you to ask yourself one simple question: which flower are you? Are you the flower left standing in the middle of a chapter, still holding onto the petals that hold meaning and value? Or maybe you are the flower that maybe needs a fresh start, so then you can blossom once more?
Either way, just remember, we are all exceptional and thriving roses, just doing the best we can with this life we have.
