What a crazy experience... I don’t recommend doing it severely hung😂🤦🏼♀️ but nonetheless truly incredible!! Packed to the rafters so we didn’t manage a seat and had to stand for 7 hours but turns out we ended up with the best seat in the house... feet dangling through the most beautiful country side!!

https://instatbt.com/Place/lamego/254649460 Lamego Having explored the Douro Valley’s undulating, vineyard-covered hills and winding river, I set my sights on something a bit different and drove off toward Lamego. In this diminutive town, I found one of Portugal’s most glorious churches, the Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios (Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies). I decided to take the reverse approach of most and parked at the top of Monte de Santo Estêvão (St Stephen’s Hill). Virtually alone in my pursuit, I descended the grand Baroque staircase fronting the centuries-old, Rococo-influenced sanctuary, pausing at each of its landings to study the view as it gradually evolved. About half-way down the nearly 700-step journey, the stairs guided my gaze to this perspective of the town below, framed by a flurry of magnificent architectural flourishes, my shadow as my only company for the moment.
