600328696560032869652018-09-18My husband made me dinner tonight. We grilled some shawarma chicken last night, and he put together a fantastic salad with chicken, bacon, marinated tomatoes, lemon-oregano dressing, and feta. It was frickin delicious and even better because I didn’t have to make it! ketoshawarmafetalemonlowcarbketosaladentreesaladketoonketoloveketolifeketodinnerhttps://scontent-ams3-1.cdninstagram.com/vp/1604888fa07cdf4e12fcf0e6b00ac2d5/5C308DDE/t51.2885-15/e35/41138556_524859121288596_8778232085320272907_n.jpg2018-09-18

The tahini spread on my salad and the justthecheese made for something delicious!! And some extra electrolytes!! Good stuff! https://scontent-ams3-1.cdninstagram.com/vp/b4487cda78bcc8be65dea7b9be73db33/5C2BF393/t51.2885-15/e35/41636030_418897591970230_7837028250940342272_n.jpg2018-09-18

32619716326197162018-09-18After the gym, I just didn’t feel like cooking so I went in to harristeeter to wander aimlessly until a 💡 went off. Decided on “subs” from the deli - really wraps - and only because they don’t have any other way to just give me the guts (meat and veggies) 🤷🏻♀️ They should really start using some kind of container for us low carb folk. Anyway, ya girl loves an Italian sub, so I took our wraps and dumped them into a bowl when I got home. Cut it up and boom 💥 Italian 🥗 It’s ugly but it was delish 👌🏼

If you’re going to work hard, you need proper, nutrient-dense fuel. Listen, I *know*!that anytime you change your way of eating, the first thing everyone clamors over and freaks out about are treats and baked goods. I’ve been through this whole thing before - it happened when Paleo became popular, too. What’s funny is that when I first ate keto in 2010, almost no one was talking about it, and there certainly weren’t lots of blogs or books dedicated to it.
But I’m going to level with you: we *all* know that focusing on treats will never lead you to the optimal way to get yourself on track. This doesn’t mean to never have them, they’re not the devil, they’re just not everyday foods.
So, realize that in ketoquickstart, I’ll be giving you a few recipes for treats, but if what you’re looking for is how to replace all of your high carb favorites with keto versions, I’m not your girl. The same way I’m not your girl for Paleo versions either.
I’m not a hater, don’t get me wrong. Do you, boo. And to those who *can* bake, do whatever makes you happy. I’m a shitty baker and I’m okay with that because it keeps me out of more trouble than I need, TBH.
Many of my keto meals look something like this: greens, homemade dressing with an EVOO base, protein, and extras like seeds, microgreens, and sometimes marinated onions. My eggs are topped with balancedbites SUPER GARLIC blend and some red pepper flakes. kasandrinos evoo in my dressing of course.
It isn’t rocket science to avoid carby foods, and the *hype* that you need to be vigilant about adding more fat fat fat or skimping on protein is inaccurate.
You’ll learn how to focus and build your plate of healthy foods that don’t look so different than just regular old “healthy” eating in the new book. It’s easier than you think.
