Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-17There is nothing like a house full of friends and family gathered around listening to live music by the fire.
This is my favorite part of the season. I think my heart grew 3 sizes tonight. 🎄🎄🎄 https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/25008222_202921193616023_6902455358879432704_n.jpg2017-12-17
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-17Tonight's house concert was my favorite thing in life!! Especially getting to spend it with these two. https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/25013412_1789777971316187_3511199222621798400_n.jpg2017-12-17
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-14🎄I poured out every drop I had today. I'm tired from top to bottom, but I'm excited for the weekend!🎄
🎉Bring on the festivities! 🎉 https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/25007765_1170364659761596_8599269888101449728_n.jpg2017-12-14
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-10And... It's a wrap! Our Gingerbread Party was a blast and I'm not sure who had more fun? Me or the kids?! I am so thankful to have such precious little ones (and some not so little ones) in my life!
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-09I don't like hand painting letters... I can never seem to get the spacing and sizing right, but I really wanted to paint today and this is our favorite carol.
I may have to do something else later to help me feel more accomplished 😂😂.
But we do love this song!
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-09All 11 gingerbread kits are here and ready for our annual Decorating Party. Without having littles in the house, I miss those sweet days of excitement over all the fun family activities surrounding the holiday.
So... we bring our friends' littles over and keep the tradition alive!
I'm so excited! GingerbreadParty2017ChristmasMemorieshttps://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/25015194_321809231634276_5067297222928891904_n.jpg2017-12-09
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-08Piper and I are snuggled up watching Hallmark Christmas movies today. With this blustery weather, there's nowhere I'd rather be.

Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-06This morning's yoga mantra was peace. Breathing it in- holding it- then breathing it out.
It's mid week and things are being accomplished and others are waiting to be...
It sounds like a good time to be reminded that we have access to peace, if we will be still and call on it.
I hope you are making space for some peace today.
https://instatbt.com/Place/the-university-of-tennessee-at-chattanooga/34806The University of Tennessee at ChattanoogaIt was such a delight to partner with so many incredible leaders in the community to discuss 'How do we disagree and still be friends'.
I was one of 7 panelists including a Muslim businessman, the department head of Political Science at UTC, a rep from to office of the Dean of Students, the chief of police, a Director of the Jewish Federation, and an athiest who is a member of the interfaith coalition of Chattanooga.
We were met by a tremendous outpouring of support not only by UTC students but many from the community at large.
We want healing and reconciliation. We are a nation divided and relationships are being damaged and we are joining together saying "There must be a better way." I am so thankful to have been one voice in a room of many calling for change. We can do this together.
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-05These cold and rainy days make me want to curl up and nap. 😴😴
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-04I spent the afternoon cooking up food for the week. I'm working diligently to decrease the amount of eating out we do... by the time we get home from work, neither of us feel like cooking so our go-to is Dinner Delivered. Bless them for keeping food in our bellies for far too many nights!
But now that we have BlueRibbonFoods I have an entire meat and produce market in the garage. I am really enjoying the variety and quality of the food we have- AND we are saving money, so score!
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-12-03I have been a bit under the weather today, but chamomile tea and naps have helped. There's a lot of exciting things coming up this week-
Zero time for blah!
🤞better tomorrow 🤕 https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/24332310_739528656246705_895042236406824960_n.jpg2017-12-03
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-29I have the privilege of being part of a panel discussion December 4 at my alma mater UTC, discussing how we can disagree and maintain connection and authentic relationships.
This evening is sponsored and facilitated by a cohort of political groups from both UTC and The McCallie School.
Depening relationships is my heartbeat and this is such a meaningful and relevant topic right now.
This event is open to the public, and I would LOVE to see you there!

Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-27I started wrapping gifts this morning, with this being my second year using recycled ribbon. I don't know why I didn't think of this before!
Last year, I gathered them up after the unwrapping frenzy Christmas morning and kept them in a gift bag until now. Red and white ribbon for everyone ❤
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-24It's been a long day putting up the Christmas decor, and we are about 2/3 of the way there. I'm especially ready this year with some semblance of winter with the cooler weather of late. I do hope we have a snow day or two this year! A white Christmas would be the best... but I will settle for needing a scarf. 🌲🍭🎄☃️❄
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-22This is a sweet Thanksgiving gift from NothingBundtCakes that is almost too cute to eat.
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-19"Each of us finds his unique vehicle for sharing with others his bit of wisdom." ~Ram Dass
Gathering around the table with friends and family is my haven. Welcoming cherished souls into our home, breaking bread, and hearing their stories, is a sacred practice.
I love how Jesus used such a common activity, known to every being, to invite us to remember Him- through the simple elements of bread and wine. Common but sacred.
We will have many opportunities in the next few weeks to join with the Divine in seeing and meeting with each other around the table. Seeing the grace and light in the faces of those we love.
As I prepare food and make space for others, it is my prayer that each person who crosses our threshold will feel loved and welcomed and true belonging.
While the world contiues to spin, and while we breathe in and out the gift of each day, I embrace the privilege of friendship, and nourishment, and celebration, right here in our sacred living room.
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-11Decided to stay in and do this tonight. Hallmark and jenniferjanedyson for the win. 🍁🍂☕🔥 https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/23417097_767101213478137_258500891701673984_n.jpg2017-11-11
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-11The weather is perfect for open windows and James Taylor.
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-10I've had this little "welcome to our patch" sign since Abrielle and Adda were little bitty.
Every year I box up the seasonal relics, preserving them until next year when I will unpack them and do it all again.
This little pumpkin has been boxed up over twenty times, just to be brought back out another year to cozy up our place and remind us the seasons change... but make their way back around to us again and again.
I think part of what is so special about tradition is that it creates a rhythm that you can count on. Things all around us are changing and growing and it can be exciting and overwhelming.
But pumpkins and candles and hot chocolate and fires remind us that home is still where we know what to expect and that feels so familiar and safe.
I'm home today doing all the off day duties of laundry and cleaning, but that is also part of the rhythm of home.
For all of this, I am truly grateful. https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/23498309_1872639999716091_8624308615429226496_n.jpg2017-11-10
Chas BarnesChas Barnes2017-11-07Navigating the holidays can be tough for many reasons... relationships are hard, sadness can be overwhelming and the chaos of it all can take a toll.
Come hang out with me for a bit on the 18th, where you will learn skills for keeping it together, while genuinely experiencing gratitude in each moment for the gift it brings.
You might even get in a good laugh or two 😂.
We can't necessarily change the circumstances, but we can learn healthier ways of dealing with them!
Space is limited, so reserve your place today.
